Song of Frontier Fortress
A poem by Xi Murong /Tr.by Lily
Please for me sing a song of frontier fortress,
In forgotten words of the ancient time.
Please warble a beautiful tremolo, to gently call upon
The magnificent land in my mind.
Only beyond the Great Wall can the spectacle be seen,
Who said that the tune of the frontier song is too moody.
You may be unwilling to listen,
In the song you don’t share the longing.
But we'll always sing the song once and again,
Just like vast prairie shining in golden ray,
The sand storm wailing across the desert,
The yellow river shore and nearby yin mountain.
Our heroes, riding on valiant steeds,
Return hometown with great glory.
